One of my favorite things to do on vacation is swim with other Master’s Clubs. It’s a great way to keep up with your workouts and can provide a fresh approach. Of course, your friends or significant other will think you’re nuts to wake up at 5 am on vacation, but alas, this is what we love to do.
It’s an easy online search of “Master’s swimming” and the state or country you’re in. Another resource is the YMCA, which often has a program. In Hawaii, there are a lot of opportunities for $5 per session. Yesterday I had the pleasure of being coached by Ironman and uberswimmer John Flannagan at the Oahu Club. There is also a masters program at the University of Hawaii as well. If you can’t find a master’s group, usually you can find a list of pools that are open to the public. Ask your swim coach to give you a few workouts. Happy training and Aloha!
