On 60 Minutes Sunday night there was a very interesting and somewhat disturbing segment about sugar It’s no surprise that we all consume too much sugar and yes, it’s not good for you. But, Dr. Sanjay Gupta did a report on how there have been new studies showing that sugar is toxic to the body. And in the world’s quest to go “fat-free”, we have actually added more sugar and increased the chances for high cholesterol and heart disease as well as other ailments. Of particular concern is cancerous tumors that have insulin receptors on their surface that signal the tumor to start consuming glucose, thus growing the cancer.
It’s important to eat a whole foods diet with natural fats and sugars. The satisfaction in eating a full fat natural product is evident. If this study doesn’t make you change the way you eat, surely it will make you look at sugar differently.
