This Sunday, while waiting for everyone to finish the New Orleans 70.3 in Jackson Square, make sure to hang out for a while at Cafe du Monde for some beignets and cafe au lait (after you’ve had your first early morning iced coffee at PJ’s). Make a reservation for dinner at Emeril’s NOLA, Irene’s or Commander’s Palace. New Orleans is a foodies’ paradise and not just for Jambalaya and Crawfish étouffée.
With the weather looking to be in the mid-70’s, we should see a great fast race with weather that won’t knock the swim out for a duathlon, as happened last year. The pro’s will be out in full force with power couples Amanda and Michael Lovato, Heather and Trevor Wurtele and Amy and Brandon Marsh looking for each other on the course. On the men’s size, Terenzo Bozzone will be hungry for a win after his disappointing 7th place at the 70.3 in New Zealand a few weeks ago. Battling him for the spot will be Lovato, Richie Cunningham, Patrick Evoe and Brit Tom Lowe. For the women, Mirinda Carfrae will be in her first North American race without coach Siri Lindley. And Bek Keat, Marsh, Wurtele and fleet footed Magali Tisseyre and Cait Snow will be speedy on the flat run course.
