We’ll never know if Lance Armstrong could have matched this record-breaking performance by Belgian Frederik Van Lierde to win Ironman France. No question that this win was deserving with a record breaking bike time by Van Lierde as well as a new course record. Van Lierde’s next race is the l’Alpe d’Huez triathlon which will again test his cycling to get him ready for Kona. Belgian Tine Deckers also put on an impressive performance with a women’s course record along with a personal best run to give her a third Ironman title. Gina Crawford put forth a solid effort, in the lead at one point, and hung on for 2nd.
