Ironman Racing in Europe and Across the US

From the mountains of Switzerland to Wine Country in California, there are many Ironman Champions racing this weekend.  Watch for new mom and multiple Ironman Champion Bella Bayliss to test her post-baby fitness in Ironman Switzerland while hometown favorite Mathias Hecht will be looking to make his 6th start here a winner. Power couple Mirinda Carfrae and Tim O’Donnell headline at the Lake Stevens 70.3. At the iconic Vineman 70.3, we have one of the most competitive field outside a world championship with last year’s winner Melissa Hauschildt (formerly Rollison) and Ironman Champions Leanda Cave, Joanna Lawn, Amy Marsh, Bek Keat, Meredith Kessler as well as hard charging Heather Jackson with her new-found foot speed. The men’s side is no less competitive with last year’s winner Joe Gambles trying to win against an equally competitive field with both short and long course champions including Greg Bennett, Luke McKenzie, Maik Twelsiek and Edwardo Sturla. At the Racine 70.3, it looks like Craig Alexander and Jessica Jacobs will be continuing their Kona tune-up and poised for the win without worrying about KPR points.

July 29th marks the preliminary cut-off for KPR points to qualify for Kona for the top 40 male and top 25 female pros. Although many racing this weekend rank highly on the list, those close to the cut-off will be trying to close the gap. Then 10 more men and 5 more woman will qualify on August 27th.
