From Lake Placid: A Few Cards Left for Kona

A dominating performance by Andy Potts for the win in Lake Placid with a margin of 31:42 over second place Pete Jacobs who needed to validate his Kona slot. Romain Guillaume came in third. Potts said that he was not only pleased with this performance but that he still had “a few cards left for Kona.” Will this be the year this first out of the water swimmer pushes through to a podium spot or top American? We’ll probably see Andy at his family reunion race at Timberman for his final race prep for the big island.

Newbie pro and first time Ironman winner Jessie Donavan fought hard through the bike and stayed steady on the run for the win over Jennie Hansen (who had the top run of the day) and Jacqui Gordon, who should feel fantastic with a podium spot after a near career ending injury last year that took away her Kona slot.  Donavan, a self-described former ‘weekend warrior’ triathlete, will be a name to watch after this breakthrough win in Placid.
